“The fear of the LORD is the beginning
of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Pr 9:10. The knowledge of the Holy One inspires the Fear of the Lord. It is difficult to fear him of whom one has
no knowledge. It is knowing “… what it is to fear the Lord” (the
knowledge of the Holy One) that “we try to persuade men.” Praises and honor to Jesus Christ, our Lord
and Savior that the desire to know Him is growing in our midst.
We have given
the chips with tape players of the New Testament voice recording to some of the
old folks in our church (pictures attached).
They were so glad to receive the New Testament on tape in their
languages. We are encouraging them to properly
and effectively use it. We will
communicate the results of their usage in subsequent emails. Please remember them in your prayers. They are already developing questions which
answers will help them better understand what they are listening to. They need people to disciple them. We have started training four people to be
involved with discipleship.
In the church
some people come and eventually leave despite every effort to encourage them to
stay. One of the young men, Pete, who were
seriously seeking the Lord, or appeared to have been seeking at the beginning
of our establishment, left the church. I
pursued him strongly because he had an amazing testimony of an encounter with
the Lord and the Lord delivered him from demonic possession. But he did everything to avoid me as he sank
deeper and deeper into ungodliness. Others
joined in pursuing him, but he moved away and avoided us all. We continued to pray for him.
On Sunday
morning, Pete was the first to reach me at church. He had a dream/vision Saturday night in which
the Lord showed him what it is like for Him (the Lord) to reject a person. That person was him. When he came out of the dream/vision, he was
not in bed, but was standing up crying and pleading for the Lord’s intervention. He was shaken to the core. He immediately dressed and was headed to
church at 4:00AM. His landlord who had heard
him crying in his room and had come out, intercepted him. When Pete told him that he was heading to
church, he pressured Pete to wait until at least 8:00. But Pete was out of the house by 6:00 heading
to the church. He stopped at one
brother’s house (In Pete’s vision, the Lord Jesus had received this brother,
but rejected Pete). He shared with the
brother and continued to church without waiting for the brother despite the
brother’s advice that it was too early. During
the church service, he emotionally shared his experience at a time of
testimony.
Pete is at
one of his lowest points in his struggle against bad habits and addictions. Please remember him in prayers that his
experience in knowing the Lord in such a powerful way will inspire the fear of
the Lord in him to depart from evil and live for God.
We thank God
for the used truck that Heart of Africa supported us to buy. Unfortunately, it broke down in the third
week of service during which time we were just testing the market to determine
how to use it effectively. We spent more
money than the amount it had raised in the three weeks to get it from where it
broke down to the city. The mechanics we
hired to service it proved to be grossly dishonest and created more
troubles. From April to August we were raising
fund and seeking a mechanic who could be trusted to service it correctly. Thanks to our Lord Jesus, that we found
someone who honestly serviced it. This
is the fourth week now that it is on the road with no problems. We appreciate your prayers that God will lead
us to properly use it to His glory.
